Cyber Acoustics, a leader in the speaker industry, has combined what they do best – high quality speakers – with the convenience of a portable MP3 docking station. The result is the Cyber Acoustics-492, an extremely portable docking station with an included iPod dock and an AUX input for connecting other products like a CD player, MP3 player or computer.
Don’t you hate it when you go to listen to your iPod and discover that the battery is almost dead? With the CA-492 you’ll never have to deal with a dead iPod again. This docking station charges your iPod or iPhone’s battery while playing music. It will even pause your music when a call comes in on your iPhone so you can answer the call. Once the iPhone is redocked, it will start your music right where you left off. To listen to additional devices, take advantage of the included 3.5 mm cable and connect MP3 players, smartphones or even your computer. Once connected, you can adjust volume levels, skip songs and more with this MP3 docking station’s onboard controls.
The docking station doesn’t have a rechargeable battery, but you can still use the device on the go by inserting four AA batteries. An AC adapter is also included so you can plug the speaker dock right into the wall.
The CA-492 is somewhat lacking in features. We assume that to keep the docking station’s size small and compact, additional features didn’t make the cut. Because of this, there is no digital radio or remote control included with the device. However, the portability and compact size of this MP3 docking station far outweighs the need for frills. Two quality speakers are all this speaker system needs to impress. Connect your iPod, or hook up any MP3 player or auxiliary device, and we think you’ll agree.
Portable truly is the Cyber Acoustics-492’s middle name. The base measures 8 inches, from front to back it is only 3.5 inches, and it weighs a measly 1.95 pounds – the smallest of all the portable docking stations we have reviewed. This docking station has obviously been designed for travel. To top it off, Cyber Acoustics includes a carrying case to protect the speakers. We love the portability aspect of the dock because it makes it easy to transport the speaker system wherever you want without worrying about damaging the speakers. It’s official, we’re headed to the beach to listen to some tunes.
Cyber Acoustics’ website is brimming full of information to support the CA-492. You can download data sheets, user manuals and more from a convenient link on the right hand side of the product page. Cyber Acoustics also has a FAQs page with video tutorials. Additionally, on the CA-492’s product page, you’ll find a YouTube video with an in-depth review of the product that links to several others as well.
The Cyber Acoustics-492 is hands down the most compact MP3 docking station we have reviewed. But the best part is that its small size does nothing to hinder the sound quality. You’ll be amazed at the range of sound you hear when you're in the same room with the device. We love the ease with which you can travel with the speaker system and applaud Cyber Acoustics for including a 3.5 mm cord to connect external devices.
